Dave Corsa's Class
Grade One Room 114
Welcome to our class web pages for the 2012-2013 school year!
August 26, 2011
Greetings to second grade families,
This is my first year teaching at Eberwhite Elementary School, and I am very excited to be here! I am a former Eberwhite parent, as my three daughters attended this school in the 1990s. I have been teaching at John Allen Elementary School since the fall of 1995, where I taught grades 5, 4, 3, 2, and Computer Lab. My teaching career began at Slauson Middle School in December of 1994, where I taught 6th grade math, social studies, and advisory.
I have lived in Ann Arbor since 1965 when I moved here from Lafayette, California. I attended Ann Arbor High School (now Pioneer) and the University of Michigan. My wife, Ann, and I live in the Eberwhite neighborhood. I enjoy bicycling, vegetable gardening, yoga, photography, and travel.
When I was 12 years of age my family moved to Karachi, Pakistan where my father worked for the Ford Foundation for 1.5 years. I have been hooked on world travel ever since. In the year 2000 I escorted a small group of middle school students from Chelsea, Michigan to Shimizu, Japan for an educational and cultural exchange. Since then, I have returned to Japan 4 more times. Three of the trips were educator programs sponsored by the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund. The fourth was in 2007, when I was a project director for the Ann Arbor-Hikone Exchange Program for middle school students in the Ann Arbor Public Schools. My latest travel adventure took place in 2010 when my daughter, Becci, and I flew to Australia to observe koalas!
I look forward to a fun year with lots of great learning. Please feel free to contact me at any time. E-mail works best, as I check it frequently throughout the day and into the evening. Getting in touch by telephone or paper note is fine as well.
Sincerely,
Dave Corsa
